Instagramming #1!

Row 3-Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair|Home made burger and chips|Starbucks-Mocha Frap (follow me @redstarbeauty)

Excited to do my first instagram post. I hope this encourages me to take more pictures! =) This month has gone so fast! Clearly my Instgramming consists of too much food! Suppose that’s the most interesting thing to take pictures of for me in my day to day life! Lol!

Doing that Union Jack (for the Jubilee) took all my concentration…but it looked good in the end, although I can’t say the same for my right hand!

50 Shades really took over this month, I must say. I read all three book in 6 days, I think that says it all.

The advanced night repair is still working wonders on my skin! I can’t say enough good things.

Hope you all had a good month! Hope July brings us less confused weather! =) x

Hair Cut!

After a brilliant weekend, I got to spend another day with Bineeta yesterday. We had a such a girly day. We started off the day getting our hair cut. We went to Rush in Kingston.

I can't believe that I waited so long to get my hair cut. The lady that did my hair was so lovely, although slightly pushy when it came to selling me products. I'm a little ashamed to say that I bought a shampoo. I'm usually quite good when it comes to not falling for their sales pitch, but she was so insistent and I need a new shampoo anyway because I'm running out lol! (It's true I promise) I'm so glad she didn't ask me when the last time I got my hair cut was! That would have been awkward!

This is the before and after. I asked to keep the length and just get lots of layers put in. Which she done amazingly but it looks a lot shorter because my hair is gone.

After the hair cut we went to "look" around the shops. I exchanged a dress I bought on Saturday for a top. (I'll do a separate "what I bought post")

We went for a much needed Girly lunch, with a good old bottle of wine! I promise I don't drink this much on a normal basis. We sat in slug and lettuce for a good 4 hours eating and talking! I love those kinds of talks! Just long and full of meaningful nonsense! Lol!

Sorry for the picture heavy post! Especially considering it’s mostly of food! What do you guys think of my hair cut?? Too short? =) x

Beauty Blogger Tag!

So, the gorgeous Bhavi did this beauty blogger tag a while ago and I have decided to do it…so let’s not babble on about it…here we go, enjoy…

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Neither…the front parts wave and the rest of it turns into a frizz ball

2. What is your natural hair color?
Black…or really really dark brown ( you can only see the brown in light)

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I dye my hair myself and only do it when I think too many of my white hairs are showing (that’s right, I have white hairs! =()

7. How often to you change your nail polish?
Once a week. I try to leave my nails free from polish every 3 weeks to let them ‘breathe’

Laughter and Friends...a Good Weekend!

This weekend has to have been one of the most amazing, laughter filled weekends I have had in a long time. After a stupidly long time I finally got to see all my lovely friends in a row! How lucky! Most of them having been slugging hard doing their exams for their professional exams to become accountants. So here is a massive Good Luck! I’m sure they have all done well because they are all nerds (plus they have been working hard)! Lol!

Bineeta/Binkz! This wasn't taken on the Thursday but it's a nice pic! ^_^

On Thursday I met up with the one and only Bineeta, I’ve known her since my first week at university…6 years ago! Yikes…That makes me feel old! She had her exam the day before and now she is finally free to let her hair down! We went to Oxford Street for a bit of shopping and then had dinner at Ping Pong. Has anyone heard of it? I hadn’t before that day. It’s a cute little restaurant which specialises in dim sum! It was gorgeous! Sorry no pictures of that…fail!

Friday was another day with Bineeta but also with my girls! These are the lovely ladies I had the pleasure to live with during one of my years at university and we have been BFF’s since then! I think we were lucky to get along so well because I have heard horror stories of flat mates not getting along, but we were instantly like a family and it hasn’t changed, even though we don’t see each other as often as we should. We just went to Pizza Express and shared a bottle of wine. Much deserved after a hard week! Lol!

Saturday was the much delayed meet up with my Uni course mates (also known them for 6 years!) for Ling’s birthday (which was the 1st of June). HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY LINGO! Ling also had exams along with her bf! We went to Busaba Eathai…I had a pad Thai…although again no picture because by the time I realised I should have taken a picture I had wolfed down half of it…fail! These guys are the best…at one point I couldn’t stop laughing, even after the joke had finished…(forever alone…private joke!)

I did a spot of shopping which I will probably show in a separate post. I’m going to try and be a bit more regular with posting…got a list and everything. Lol! Hope you all had a brilliant weekend! =) x

Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair

Eeee I’m so happy that I have finally bought this! After a lot of contemplating and research I finally decided to take the plunge and get the Estee Lauder ‘Advanced Night Repair’. It was £41 for 30ml. Definitely a lot of money but from what I have noticed so far definitely worth it! I first heard the magic of this product from the infamous Tanya Burr of Pixi2woo. After her talking about it I had always been intrigued.

But my recent obsession about getting better skin and finding the best products that work for me, led me to contemplate getting it. In my skin care post I mentioned what I’m using at the moment, those have not changed. But there was definitely something missing from my night time routine and I think this was it.

What it says:
It helps neutralise up to 90% of environmental irritants before they can damage skin and its DNA.
Its revolutionary formula is synchronised to your skins needs to help support the optimal performance of its natural repair and protective processes.
Delivers high levels of long proven Hyluronic Acid which increases the levels of moisturisation.

Use:
It says to use it every night. It’s a ‘oily’ thin serum texture. It’s not sticky and the ‘oiliness’ gets absorbed into the skin on application. It comes in a convenient pipette applicator. I apply about three drops onto my finger tips (of one hand) and rub between my fingers (rubbing both hands together) and press into the skin. It gets absorbed into the skin immediately, there is no residue.

Results:
I have only been using it for a couple of days so I cant give a amazing review about it but I can definitely say that I have noticed a difference in my skin. My skin is much softer, my pigmentation has ever so slightly reduced and the ‘craters’ I had on my face are visibly less deep. I know that sounds mad considering the time frame but I was not expecting such fast results. I can’t wait to see what my skin will look like in a one months time or even three months time.

Overall:
I know that it is an expensive product and if you can, get a sample of it. I can tell that this product will last a long time, because you don’t need much of it. It’s a luxury product and if you think your skin will benefit from some more TLC then I would look into this.

Have you tried anything like this? Do you think it’s worth it? =) x

Intensive Hair Conditioner!

Some of you may have seen me purchase a deep conditioner in my haul post. This is because my hair is overdue a hair cut and the ends of my hair are soo dry it’s disgusting (to me anyway). I’m going to get my hair cut at the end of the month and I’m dreading the question ‘when was the last time you cut your hair!’ that the hairdresser will probably ask, they won't be impressed when I say September! (*looks down in shame*)

Anyway…I spent a long while looking around the hair care isle looking for a good deep conditioner or hair mask. And after all the reading, I decided to get the ‘VO5 Treat Me Right’ deep conditioning treatment. The reason for choosing this quite frankly is because of the amount of oils that it states to have (and the smell =D!!).

Just to say that I rarely blow dry my hair, I try and let my hair dry naturally as much as possible. And as for hot tools, I do use them but quickly so I don’t leave the heat on my hair for too long.

Price:
£4.39

What it says:
Intensely condition, strengthen & repait dry damaged hair
Replenish what your daily routine takes out of your hair
Leave your hair incredibly smooth, silky soft & radiantly shiny

Use:
The texture of it is slightly thicker than a normal conditioner. I have been using a walnut sized amount (my hair is long) at least once a week maybe twice depending on how I’m feeling. I shampoo my hair like normal, then apply this through the lengths of my hair (not my roots) and leave in for about 5-10 minutes whilst I wash (sorry if that was too much info!). I proceed to wash it out, thoroughly.

Issues:
To be honest I’m not a fan of the packaging, the tub element is so annoying. Wet hands trying to unscrew a tub, well you see the accident waiting to happen. I don’t particularly like scrapping it out, because I can’t tell if I’m using the same amount every time and there’s a threat that water will drip into the tub.

Results:
Well, I have been using it for just under a month and it has made such a huge difference to the health of my hair. The dry ends that I had a problem with are gone (*dances*). The texture of my hair is actually silky, which may be hard to believe but it really is. I would definitely recommend it to try out if you have dry hair. My hair smells amazing to boot which is always a good thing. Basically, what it said it would do it has =)

Overall:
Like I said before, if you are looking to get something to deep condition your hair I would definitely consider this product. I don’t think you can go wrong at £4.39 for 300ml!

Do you use deep conditioners? What one do you use? Have you tried this one? What do you think? =) x
